Tableau and Microsoft Power BI are two most widely used data analytics and visualization software. Both have built-in meta database and super visualization capabilities. At this stage, the price is the key consideration between them as the two companies have different pricing strategies.
Tableau
The cost of a Tableau Creator license is USD 75 per user per month, billed annually, amounting to USD 900 per user per year (as of August 2023). The price is the same for either Tableau Server or Cloud. Tableau has offered Tableau Reader free of charge. Tableau Reader enables users to view reports and dashboards created by Tableau Creator.
Microsoft Power BI
Microsoft Power BI Desktop is offered as a free download. One can go to Microsoft Store to download it. To share Power BI reports and dashboards on Cloud, every user needs to purchase Microsoft Power BI Pro license at USD9.99 per user per month.
At entry level, cost of Microsoft Power BI is lower than Tableau.
